Paul Albertus is an Associate Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at UMD. Dr. Albertus received a BSE in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He then worked at the Bosch Research and Technology Center in Palo Alto, CA, where he was a Senior Research Engineering. From 2014 to 2018 Dr. Albertus worked as a Fellow and Program Director at the Advanced Research Projects Agency – Energy (ARPA-E) at the US Department of Energy, where he initiated and management programs on electrochemical energy storage and conversion. Dr Albertus initiated the DAYS program on Long Duration Electricity Storage (LDES) in 2018, which contributed to a significant expansion of interest in that topic. Dr. Albertus joined the University of Maryland in 2019, where he has created a research group, teaches classes, and serves as the Associate Director of the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute.
